British Bowls

precision sport

The game is played on a green, which is at least 31–40 m long. The green is bordered by a ditch or gutter. The games are usually played as singles (one player against another), but can also be played as pairs, triples and fours. The biggest difference with other ball sports is that the bowls are usually made of plastic and slightly flattened and that their centre of gravity is shifted to one side. As a result, they roll in a curved path.

Traditionally, Bowls players wear white clothes. The programme is topped off with a cocktail reception on a second green and a dinner by the pool.
